Xochitl Garcia (she/her) is the Assistant Director of the Upward Bound program, where she helps guide young minds as they navigate their path to college. She was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, with much time in the Northeast Los Angeles area. and has been part of the OXY Upward Bound family since 2012.
Being part of the OXY Upward Bound program since 2010, Xochitl's journey began as a student participant, later returning in multiple roles, including Residential Tutor, Residential Advisor, Student Coordinator, Senior College Advisor Aide, and Program Coordinator. With the help of the OXY Upward bound program, Xochitl earned her Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Public Health from California State University, Los Angeles.
Passionate about empowering students to explore educational opportunities and achieve their goals, she brings both personal experience and professional dedication to her work. Outside the office, she enjoys traveling, reading all kinds of books, spending time with her many pets, and cheering for the Dodgers from the stands.
